Disney California Adventure opened on February 8, 2001 – more than 45 years after Disneyland opened. The park is themed after the history and culture of California, which celebrates the fun and adventure of the state thru the uses of various Disney, Pixar and Marvel properties.
California Adventure is currently broken up into 7 different areas; Buena Vista Street, Pixar Pier, Paradise Garden Park, Grizzly Peak, Hollywood Land, Cars Land and the future Marvel Avengers Campus. Each area is unique and has wonderfully themed attractions, entertainment and dining options that will fulfill any childs (or adults) dreams.
While I lived in California, the only park that was there was the original Disneyland park. I was lucky enough to be able to travel to the West Coast and visit the park back in 2014 which was my first trip back to Disneyland Resort since I moved out of California in 1986. You can imagine in 28 years, things had changed. Seeing California Adventure in the place the Disneyland parking lot used to be was amazing.
Experiencing a new Disney park with my husband and friends was such a great opportunity. I was blown away by the details in the theming all throughout the park. There were 3 areas that really stood out to me. The Pixar Pier area, the Hyperion Theater and Cars Land.
I was so sad when I heard the show that was at the Hyperion Theater, Disney’s Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular, was going to close. This is the best off Broadway show I have ever seen. It was 45 minutes of Disney Musical bliss. Many of the scenes and songs from the movie were re-created for stage performance.

Cars land is probably the best themed area I have seen. All the little details (and even the big ones) were absolutely amazing! We spent many hours walking thru the land, riding the rides and partaking of the food options that were all Cars themed.

I honestly can not wait to get back to the West Coast and get to Disneyland and California Adventure again. California Adventure was a great addition to the Disney family. The first 20 years have been amazing and I hope the next 20 are even better.
Have a Magical Day!
